Known as one of Miami’s most intimate, music-focused clubs, Do Not Sit On the Furniture has hosted some of the world’s finest live artists and DJ’s. This cozy 100 person capacity space actually defines what Montrealers love most about live electronic music. Living in the present, focused on the moment, no distractions within the venue; it’s any music lover’s ideal sound space. Do Not Sit encompasses a vibe and a feeling we’re all pretty familiar with. Having hosted hometown favorite Kora in Tulum, along with other favorites like Atish, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, and so many more, something about Do Not Sit hits close to home.
Miami itself has turned out some of electronic music’s best producers and DJ’s. Maceo Plex, Danny Daze…the list goes on and on. But during this festival season, there’s no need to take a flight down to Miami for the ‘Do Not Sit’ experience. One of Miami’s most infamous underground clubs is flying to us in Canada.
On July 14th, Do Not Sit On the Furniture will be taking over AIM festival for an incredible Sunday party at Parc de Carillon. The lineup is stacked with Montreal favorites, and according to all the buzz on social media, the crowd is already tuned in with Do Not Sit’s vibrations.
You’ve probably already seen at least a few of the headlining DJ’s at AIM’s edition of ‘Do Not Sit at some of our clubs in Montreal. All Day I Dream, Anjunadeep, Do Not Sit’s Label, Mobilee Records, Sol Selectas…AIM’s Sunday lineup represents some of today’s most influential prog and deep house labels.
Behrouz is treasured by Montreal, and has thrown down some amazing sets at Soubois. I’ve had the chance to hear both Modd and Rodriguez Jr shake down the walls of Newspeak within the last couple of years, and Jody Wisternoff recently cranked out an incredible set at Newspeak this past March.
48 hours of dancing and festival-going may leave you a bit winded come Sunday morning. The musical mastery of Digweed and Tenaglia will probably leave you feeling some sort of way. Thankfully, Sabo will whip up something artistic, more down-tempo, and melodic to help ease us back into one last dance by the river under the summer sun.
From Tulum, to Ibiza, to the shores of the Aegean sea in Cesme, Do Not Sit brings their party to some of the world’s biggest electronic music hot spots. How lucky are we that some of our favorite DJ’s are being brought to us right here in back woods of Eastern Canada? It all makes sense, though. This is yet just another indication, another sign, that Montreal has one of the best, most dedicated electronic music crowds in the world.
Spent the day dancing and dreaming away at All Day I Dream’s takeover last summer? Then you should know this is not the day party to miss. This is one of North America’s most unique clubs transplanted right into our backyard…and good news! There are still weekend passes and all day Sunday tickets available HERE. Shoutout to Montreal-based ZoOzoo Creations, who will be taking care of the aesthetic this Sunday. Check out some of her incredible work by visiting her facebook page HERE.
Check out Do Not Sit at AIM’s event page HERE and don’t miss all the buzz leading up to one of Montreal’s most anticipated summer parties.
