It’s not every week you see a local electronic music collective turn 10 years old. Since 2009, Andres Velilla‘s NoiseFloor Records has been hosting hundreds of artists through its residency at Salon Daomé. Kevin Yost, Elif, Sam Shure, Paul Mad, and countless other DJ’s from Montreal and abroad have shaken up the walls of Daomé year after year. Thanks to NoiseFloor’s residency nights, so many local artists have had the opportunity to hit the decks and showcase their talents.
What better way to celebrate than two fantastic live acts, plus the label master himself? On Thursday, June 27th, Justin Marchacos and Abe Duque from New York are coming to Daomé to make some noise for NoiseFloor’s 10 year residency anniversary. Mark your calendars, it’s gonna be a good one.
Why exactly? Justin and Abe are combining forces and playing a combined live act for us. It’s a rarity to see two live performers playing together to begin with. On top of it all, this will be their combined live act’s Canadian premier.

If you were in Montreal last November, hopefully you had the chance to catch Justin and his live act on Abreuvoir’s terrace for Burning Sun. That day was cold and raining, but he heated up the dance floor pretty quickly. His sound is deep, synth-y, mood-y; the perfect kind of Deep Tech for NoiseFloor’s 10th anniversary.
With over 30 years in the industry shaping what techno is today, Abe Duque is the a master of soundscapes, synths, production and live performance. Duque co-ran the Abuse Industries night – a seminal series of events that helped germinate New York techno in the 90s and provided the launch pad for Abe’s career as a celebrated techno artist, live performer, remixer, and label boss.
These two artists together, in synthesis, will surely be progressive heaven.
Coming in hot with visuals for the evening are VJ’s, Diagraf, and Iregular. You may have recently seen Diagraf’s projections and visuals at MUTEK, or at Alpaka Productions’ Collision show back in April. Iregular’s art can be found at shows, exhibits, and installations from Europe to South America.
