I had a pleasure of attending a wonderful interpretation of a mini Burning Man last Saturday at MTL Burn 3.0!
What started as a small birthday party became an anticipated annual event. A secret location, hand selected crowd and incredible music were all vital in the mechanics of the night.
It was a leave no trace event, in which guests were encouraged to follow the 10 principles of Burning Man, such as radical self expression, gift giving, communal effort and radical inclusion. This created a wonderful environment, full of beautiful characters from across galaxies, arriving ready to open their hearts and share the love.
In every corner of the venue the (wo)man watched with her all seeing eye as she existed in opposition to The Man. An art piece created by Karine Clément.
Audrey Morissette started off the night right, with a bang, leaving the crowd excited and wanting more. Laurence Matte‘s sultry beats and deep bass took listeners back to the playa, in a nostalgic funky dream-state. Rodhjigger killed his set, leaving the crowd hyped and ready for the “sunrise set,” which was performed, this time, by one half of the duo Döppel Mind (Vince Dub) and DAVIAN (reimagined as “Dubbian”). This collaboration of friends and artists was truly a treat, and is sure to remain an unforgettable set in these blooming artist’s careers.
Take note!! DAVIAN will be sharing the decks with the amazing Ran Salman, Hicky & Kalo and Soul of Zoo at Burning Sun on April 13th. Here is a dreamy set he prepared for Deep House Toronto this winter, enjoy.
The 2018 Burning Man projection footage took me on an excursion back in time, making me feel all of those playa vibes all over again, check it out!
Being surrounded by so many beautiful people, in such a great venue, thinking about the 10 principals and gazing up at the trippy-fantastic projections made me feel like I was home.
Adding to the magic, we had live artists scattered throughout the venue exploring their own versions of radical self expression. Nimano Nimz (top) and Camelia Melillo (bottom). The ZooZoo Creations visionary Zineb Rar lead with the decor.
A HUGE thank you to David Pontbriand and Olivier Paquin for one of the most magic, memorable and dreamy nights of the year! See you all next time!
