A year ago, I wrote about Salon Daome’s new venue and as excited as I was with sharing the news with you people, I felt nostalgic leaving the old Salon behind along with all the memorable moments many of us have shared there.

Fast forward a year, and the new place has exceeded all expectations, after over 15yrs in business, Le Salon Daome has preserved its unique atmosphere and ‘feel good’ vibes, all while delivering some of the hottest audio/visual talent Montreal has to offer.

To celebrate, this Saturday April 13th from 10pm – 3am, Salon Daome will be kicking off its one year anniversary in the new venue with Mike Huckaby (Detroit) + Nathan Burns + VJ BunBun!

In honour of the 1yr anniversary celebrations, Salon Daome has prepared something special, bringing the motor city tech-house specialist Mike Huckaby for a night of quality deep house music! This Detroit underground favourite has an extensive knowledge of electronic music and with his two labels Deep Transportation and SYNTH, he has been delivering truly remarkable releases that made his name on the underground international scene. Once owner of the legendary Record time store in Detroit, Mike developed an exquisite taste of music that allowed him to become the tastemaker and sound designer that he is today.

Mike’s trademark is to pair tech-house music with groovy, jazz melodies, enjoying the occasional saxophone bridging with some high metallic basslines. What better way to illustrate these words than with his: My Life With the Wave Show 3

Opening for the Detroit maestro, will be our local Daome resident & co-owner Nathan Burns. Owner of Microzoo records and half of the duo Phuture Positive with Soundshaper, he brings special care to his imprint, keeping a fine musical signature on each release and bringing his unique energy in all his sets! His deep house, tech house mixes have an enjoyable taste and his latest release forLofthansa, LFTZ-008 is a good listen while getting ready to party at Saturday night’s event!

Last but certainly not least, the appointment of our local favourite VJ BunBun as Salon Daome’s resident VJ. Almost every week, for a year, she has been pairing with the DJs by mixing her artistic vision into the space while keeping with the tempo. By providing spectacular projections and lighting up the dance-floor, she gives good vibes!

It is only a matter of time until we start seeing more of these types of A/V collabs all around the city. Let us hope that Daome’s recognition of VJs will inspire other venues to adopt a similar type of mindset and give more visibility to our talented local visual artists! With all of that being said, please join us this Saturday night in wishing Salon Daome a very special anniversary!
